OPEN SHEEP SHOW

Wednesday, August 15, 2007 - 6:00 PM

Rules: Animals must meet all Health Requirements as set forth by the NY State Department of Agriculture and Markets.(See rules and health regulations governing livestock exhibits.)

Entry Fees: 10% of 1st place premium (& each exhibitor must purchase at least 1 exhibitor pass)

Entries Due: (no exceptions) 6:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2007. 

All animals must be in place by 10:00 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2007.
Judging begins at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, August 15, 2007.

Animals must remain on the grounds until 9:00 PM, Saturday, August 18, 2007, and must be removed by 11:00 PM, Saturday, August 19, 2007. If unable to remove by 11 PM contact Mike Gladstone (See Board of Directors) to make alternative arrangements.

1. Competition is open to all New York State residents.
2. All sheep must be owned by individuals or firms exhibiting same. All animals must have been property of the exhibitor for at least 30 days prior to opening day of the fair. Any exhibitor detected in changing ear labels falsely, misrepresenting ownership or guilty of other infractions of the rules will be excluded from competition and awards.
3. The name and registration number of each animal must be given at time of entry.
4. Departure before set time results in premium forfeiture.
5. ANY ANIMAL IN ANY CLASS MUST BE WORTHY OF RECOGNITION OR IT WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE COMPETITION. Only purebred sheep shall be eligible to compete in Sections 1-5 inclusive. Certificate of registration must be shown.
6. All animals exhibited must be free from scap infection. Animals from a flock under quarantine cannot be shown.
7. All sheep of sufficient age, shown the present season, must have been closely clipped. If the Judges are satisfied they have been so shorn, allowance therefore must be made. The quality and quantity of the wool, and perfection of form and size will be especially considered in each class. Length of wool shall be a maximum of 1” on non-long wool breeds, ie; Suffolk, Dorset and Hampshire.
8. An exhibitor may enter and show as many entries as he/she wishes in each class, but not receive more than two (2) premiums in each class. One premium per exhibitor in all group classes. All entries in the group class must be entered in their individual class.
9. One exhibitor in show ring per animal. Group classes may have one extra.
10. No exhibitor allowed to exhibit more than five (5) breeds.
11. Lambs shown in market class may not be shown in other open classes. Registration not necessary.
12. The decision of the judges shall be final in all cases except where error, fraud, misrepresentation, or collusion, not discovered at time of award, is proven. In such cases, the superintendent or such referees as he/she may appoint may make a decision, which decision shall be final.
13. The Wayne County Fair assumes no responsibility in case of loss or damage to livestock or other exhibits from any cause. Entries are received upon this condition only.
14. BEST OF SHOW to receive prize blanket.

Premium money will be available at the Secretary’s office Friday afternoon.
