DEPARTMENT 05

FLOWERS

Amount Offered - $474

Entry Fees: 10% of first-place premium. Payment must accompany entry form.

Entry Due: Days and times for entries are listed in each division.

• Show is on main floor in Floral Hall.
• Judging to be held as listed in each division.
• Ribbons must be picked up after Wednesday breakdown or Saturday breakdown. Otherwise they become the property of Wayne County Fair.
• Superintendent must sign release for prize money.
• Unauthorized removal of display will forfeit all prize money.

Rules:

1. An exhibitor may make one entry in each class, but may enter as many classes as desired except Division 2, Sections 3 and 4 where an exhibitor may enter one each of as many varieties in each class.
2. All entries are encouraged to be made in advance. Division 2 , Sections 1 & 2 will be split shows.
3. Seed pods, i.e., money plant, are not flowers or a live plant at time of show and may not be exhibited.
4. The Fair Society disclaims all liability for loss or damage.
5. All horticultural entries must have been grown or cared for by the exhibitor at least 3 months prior to showing, and should be labeled as to variety.
6. Containers are to be suitable to specimen exhibited. Multiple crowns of one variety per container are permitted.
7. Only foliage attached to the stem of a specimen is to be shown. All foliage underwater should be removed, except Division 2, Sections 3, 4 and 5.
8. The use of materials on the New York State Conservation List is prohibited. Any ferns grown in New York State may not be used.
9. All Designs must be made by the exhibitor.
10. All exhibits must be maintained in good show condition throughout the entire show.
11. All Section classes are open to the amateur.
12. The show will be closed to the public during judging.

An award of $5.00 and a Rosette will be given in Divisions 1 and 2 for "BEST OF SHOW".

DIVISION 1 - HOUSEPLANTS

SECTION 1 - CONTAINER GROWN PLANTS (one or naturally multiple plant unless otherwise noted)
Division 1 is a whole week show.

Awards: Div. 1, Sect. 1: 1st place $2.00, 2nd place $1.00, 3rd place $.50, Honorary Mention - Ribbon.

Entry Due: All entries in this Division must be in place between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM on Monday, August 13 with Judging at 10:30 AM . Division 1 entries will not be released until 10:00 AM, Sunday, August 19.

Premium money will be available at the Secretary’s office Wednesday Afternoon.

DIVISION 3 – Design Classes

SECTION 1 - Adult Design, Professional - Split Show.

1. Entries in Division 3, Section 1 can be made either Monday, August 13 or Thursday, August 16. The first split will run Monday, August 13 to Wednesday, August 15. Entries for this show must be in place between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM, Monday, August 13. These entries will be released at 10:00 PM, Wednesday, August 15.

2. The second split will run Thursday, August 16 to Saturday, August 18. Entries for this show must be in place between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 16. These entries will be released  Sunday, August 19 between 10AM and 1PM.

Rules :

1. Open to Wayne County professional florists, designers or growers.

2. For professionals only, exhibition, no award money, no entry fee

3. Exhibited on pedestal

4. Accessories are permitted.

5. Treated plant material, such as dyed flowers is not permissible.

6. Use of the American Flag is prohibited.

7. Limited to 4 reservations per show period.

8. For exhibit only, will not be judged.

9. May include 4"x 6" card identification and theme title, if any.
